Welcome to the Illinois EconChallenge ONLINE!



Registration for the Spring online competition is open January 1 through February 15.

Illinois high school economics teachers are invited to engage their students in this comprehensive academic competition. There are no participation fees and teachers may enter multiple teams.

The competition is open to Illinois high school students currently enrolled in or have previously taken:

  • Advanced Placement
  • International Baccalaureate
  • Honors
  • Two-semester


  • Any other advanced courses in economics (including courses taught by a secondary teacher where students earn college credit). The course must be taught by a secondary teacher.


The competition challenges students at an Advanced Placement level. Students compete in teams of four with each student eligible to participate as a member of only one team.
